Individual motives include entertainment, political, revenge, boredom, recognition, for money, and multiple reasons. To rank these motives from 1 which makes the most sense to 7 the least in my opinion I would rank them: 1. Multiple reasons, 2. For money, 3. Revenge, 4. Political, 5. Entertainment, 6. Boredom, 7. Recognition. Firstly, at number one multiple reasons because I think a person’s actions being motivated by a multitude of reasons is more likely than a singular motive; psychological motives, physical, monetary, etc. can all be a combination of motives. Secondly, I think money is the next motive that makes the most sense because the way the world punishes those that do not have an abundance of monetary wealth creates a huge desire to be motivated to obtain money anyway possible. Next, revenge can be a very blinding emotion which can easily be a motive, this same logic I would also apply to political beliefs that people are wrapped and unwavering in political ideologies. Although entertainment and boredom may seem opposites I view them as similar because it’s almost tautological that because of boredom it becomes entertainment and its a form of entertainment because of boredom. Lastly, recognition I think makes the least sense because in the online world behind a screen the ability of recognition I would say is uncommon of people’s true identities and not online alias’s.
