Why I am interested in Cybersecurity:
For a long time I have always been interested in coding and messing with the software and hardware of things, I used to take apart toys to see the electronics and have had a fascination with coding. I first wanted to make video games but there is not a lot of job security there and while I can still do it as a hobby I found cybersecurity a much more stable path. Hackers and coding have always been exciting and continue to be as I learn more about the cyber world. Between job security and my long-lasting interest in technology, I decided to pursue a career in Cyber. I want to be involved with a career that deals with more coding like software engineering or pen testing. High school really helped me explore my interests in cyber with many different classes and challenges. I learned about the mindset of hackers, did some of my own hacking, coded in different languages, and changed my mindset. Ever since my senior year in high school, it has not been about what things are supposed to do but what you can make them do. If there is any kind of computer that is unsecured in an area, you could probably connect to it. I asked my dad who worked on government projects and he taught me about how every single device is secured because it would be easy to get into a network through an unsecured device. Because of all these different influences and the ability to peek into the darker side of computers, I’ve stayed on this path of cybersecurity. I have not needed to wonder too much about what I wanted to do because this has always stayed my answer. Its the best way I can think of to make money doing computer and coding-related things while also being a bit mischievous. (especially in pen testing)
