Remote. Working. Cyber technology has completely changed the way we can get work done. 10-20 years ago, everyone was expected to get a job that requires leaving your house and driving to work. Now, many jobs are offering remote work, where most or all of work can be done right from the comfort of your own home. The COVID-19 Pandemic has made this reality realistic for many people. Tons of companies are now realizing exactly how much work can be done right from home, without worrying about having people come into work. If not for cyber technology, the pandemic would have been much, much worse for the economy than it already was.

In addition to remote learning, which can be a good thing for productivity, cyber technology has also created opportunities for workplace deviance through lowering productivity. Access to social media is now everywhere we go. The “normal” way of working used to be going into work and getting your work done all day. Now, with distractions all over our phones, it is very easy to take breaks and get distracted from our work.

The last way that cyber technology has created opportunities for workplace deviance is through access to information. With cyber technology, we have all of the information in the world directly at our fingertips. Information like better jobs, what you should be paid at your job, etc. Before cyber technology, people accepted their jobs. It was common to stay at a single job for most of your life. There was no way to know what you should be getting paid for your job, so bosses could get away with more. Cyber technology has given employees more personal freedom.

Cyber technology has completely changed the way the workplace is set up. We are all more connected with more flexibility and personal freedom.
