What do you think will be the most significant biological/medical advancement of our generation?
I know this is a pretty broad question but I’m curious what the thoughts are out there.
Edward Jenner introduced the first vaccine in 1796 to prevent smallpox. Louis Pasteur determined microorganisms cause disease in the 1860s. Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928. Watson and Crick (along with Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins) discovered the double-helix structure of DNA in 1953.
What area do you think most likely to see a major discovery next? Do you think all of the “big” discoveries have already been made or do we still have a lot to learn about cells and how they work? Is there a specific discovery you’d like to see?
