Writing has always been my Achilles heel. Coming into college I was never taught the proper writing mechanics. Having said that, I don’t think that I am a horrible writer at the moment. My main struggles are in the department of staying in the same time period throughout the paper. Also, I tend to find myself struggling to find a place to end the paper, the conclusion of the paper has always been a focal point for me. Although my writing still needs improvement, I am glad that I have been able to make some corrections in the areas in which I have always struggled in. In addition, I have found writing review sessions to be very helpful. It gives me a chance to get feedback from my teacher and other English teachers because when I read my papers on my own, I usually miss certain things that a professor can pick up on. From reading other people’s essays, I have learned different things that I never knew before. All students in the class are there for the same reason, so, they can enhance their writing and take it to the next level, and being able to help each other by reading each other’s essays is a great strategy to use. Altogether, I have learned a lot from these couple of weeks of class and I intend to learn a lot about my writing improvement, and my classmates writing improvements.
