Entrepreneurship in Cybersecurity
Entrepreneurship in Cybersecurity is a very unique course as it is actually required amongst many majors to teach students about entrepreneurship. Typically titled Entrepreneurship in Professional Studies, this course provides guidance into what entrepreneurship is, how to think like an entrepreneur, and even goes further by providing assignments to create a business plan. The class highlights the ideas of being creative and innovative and how these two coincide when fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.
This class brought new ideas and skills to my personal toolkit with how it was structured. Each topic layered onto the next, providing insight into what to develop or draft next, as well as incorporating ideas of past experiences and research into entrepreneurs. As the term went on, all of the layering allowed for the development of a business plan, showcasing the ideas and skills used within the field.
Business Plan
This was the big assignment for the course, and it really put into perspective how challenging it can be to be an entrepreneur. The business plan was a very good assignment as it cultivated my creativity and allowed me to think differently about finances, market research, and overall develop of a plan. The idea does not necessarily have to be specific towards a business, but building a plan can benefit from the techniques used in the assignment.
