Week 7 Entry

While the costs of developing a cyber security program is indefinite and can be quite steep depending on how layered the program is intended to be, it will almost always be worth over suffering potential cyber attacks.

Doing a majority of things with programs will cost money. Whether you want to obtain the license of an existing cyber security program for your own use or develop your own program, it will cost money, with the latter probably costing less, but offering a greater challenge. To create and develop a cyber security program, you need a device or devices that can help carry that out, software that is capable of doing so, hardware that is capable of doing so, etc. A lot of things will cost money.

The costs at first glance may seem daunting, but the costs of any potential damage upon your software, hardware, databases, etc. will be greater. Cyber attacks on the largest institutions in America cost millions or even billions of dollars to counteract and recover from, usually costing more than a simple license or self developed program. Not to mention, in the particular scenario of a data base leak, personal information such as passwords and other account details will be broadcasted to unauthorized users, which carries obvious and serious security vulnerabilities. Files will be destroyed, damaged, or possibly found on other unauthorized devices. If files make their way to other devices, they can be freely distributed onto the internet, resulting in potential revenue off of said files lost. While that action is illegal and the law will attempt to work on your side to help recover from damages, the process of going through it and the attack itself is a massive hassle to deal with. All of this can mostly be counteracted with a cyber security program in place.
