As people evolve and change due to what they work with changes, technology is also applicable here. A classic scenario of workplace deviance is stealing the property of others. As people get new and cooler technology, like better iPhones and Androids, it may be stolen by someone else in the same workplace.

Harassment is also a classic example of workplace deviance, and it is typically fueled by racist or sexist mindsets. Harassment through emails is very commons, and there are different higher-ups in companies being exposed for it on a regular basis. Harassment through phone calls and company memos are also common. The latest technology enables even more harassment to occur by giving those who aim to do it more ways to do it.

On a somewhat lesser basis but much more serious, there are employees that purposely sabotage company machines like computers for their own gain. Even on a smaller scale, where company internet and computers are heavily restricted but an employee using it bypasses restrictions for leisure can be considered workplace deviance. In the same category, using your phone while on the shift can also be considered workplace deviance.

Just as work requirements gradually increase over time, technological requirements increase as well. As cyber technology develops, employees may expect a higher standard of technology being used in the workplace. If an employee is constantly annoyed by an outdated database, machinery, insufficient knowledge of technology amongst coworkers and those in the higher ups, it will of course lead to employee unhappiness, leading to potential workplace deviance of many other different scenarios, just like a domino effect. To counter this, those in charge of training would have to spend extra time, resources, and money on making sure all of the technology the company is using is up to date and that those who are in charge of using it are also able to work with it competently.
