Cyber Clinic Overview
The Cyber Clinic was a hands-on learning and service-based program designed to provide real-world cybersecurity experience while assisting clients with technology and security challenges. As a member of the clinic, I worked alongside fellow cybersecurity students and faculty mentors to assess, identify, and mitigate potential vulnerabilities in computer systems, networks, and digital infrastructures.
My Role and Responsibilities
During my time in the Cyber Clinic, I:
- Conducted security assessments and vulnerability scans on client systems to identify risks.
- Assisted with incident response planning and the development of cybersecurity best practices for small businesses and organizations.
- Documented findings, created reports, and presented solutions in a professional, client-facing format.
Outcome
Through this experience, I gained valuable, hands-on exposure to real-world cybersecurity operations, enhanced my technical and communication skills, and contributed to improving cyber resilience in my community.

Cybersecurity Clinic Reflection 2 (2025)
This reflection draws on my experiences working with community organizations through ODU’s Cybersecurity Clinic. I participated in outreach and initial risk assessment activities, including guiding small businesses through cybersecurity awareness and preparedness. This artifact demonstrates not only technical growth, but also soft skills such as professional communication, collaboration, and adapting cybersecurity concepts for non-technical clients. It shows my ability to translate classroom learning into practical consulting experience.
Cybersecurity Clinic Reflection 3 (2025)
In my third clinic reflection, I documented the completion of over 50 internship hours where I contributed directly to client projects. I worked on risk assessments, created reports, and drafted executive summaries to communicate findings effectively to business leaders. This artifact highlights growth in project management, applied risk frameworks (such as NIST standards), and real-world problem solving. It also demonstrates my adaptability in professional settings and ability to balance technical details with business needs.
