Cyber technology impacts almost everything but rarely do we focus on ‘who’ it impacts. Technology provides people with a ton of information and the chance to communicate & interact with millions of people. But by connecting with others you are exposing them to your data. This sort of information in the wrong hands will likely result in a cyber attack. Cyber technology is impacting the interactions between offenders and victims socially because you could be friends with your offender. A lot of social applications do not protect you in the way you think. It can also be someone you’ve never met or someone who lives far away. Cyber crime offenders and victims both do have something in common, they show similar risk factors in self-control and risky internet routines (which make victims more vulnerable). Risk factors can sometimes predict victimizations and the offending of cybercrimes.
