The biggest cybersecurity risk to US businesses is employee negligence. Employee negligence is one of the main causes of data breaches within businesses. Data breaches cost the company a lot of money and can cheapen the overall worth of the brand. This can be a result of employees leaving their computer unattended or unlocked, and it is not just the CPU but can be from leaving important documents or notes unattended can too raise the risk. Remote work, working outside of the workplace wherever that may be increases the risk of breaches. Training employees on how to protect and prevent any breaches is important for businesses to take the time since breaches have become such an issue in the U.S. Another big risk in this country is hacking and the most recent example I can think of is the presidential voting scandal. Where allegedly Russia interfered in the presidential election and because of this it has been urged that we add even more safeguards to our voting systems.
When comparing other countries, say China, for example, their cybersecurity risk is managed differently especially in the business aspect. We can see a difference in the rules and laws they have in place regarding cybersecurity in their country. For instance, they require international organizations into finances, telecommunications, and transportation to store all data in China and if you wish to have the data transferred overseas you will need government approval. There are also penalties in place for anyone who violates said law, $150,000 fine, loss of license, and/or the suspension of a website. Different than the US because every state has its own individual rules and laws in place that are abided by.
