The agency I have chosen to discuss for my assignment is For Kids inc which is a non-profit organization. After reaching contact with the organization, I was informed that because of Covid, I will not be able to meet with anyone in person, but I do have permission to ask any questions through email with a specific staff member is who able to help me gain all of the information I need to complete this assignment.

            The agencies mission and purpose are to be able to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness for children and families. The way that they believe they can break this cycle, is by starting out with giving the kids a chance with education. They provide the necessary tools to help give each kid what it is they need individually, which can mean starting off from where they left off with their education, or even help them advance to the next grade level. It has been stated that there have been 423 kids who participated in the education program.

            The population and demographics for this agency is based off of the families that they serve with young children. There is not a specific guideline as to what a family is supposed to look like. It has been stated that most of the time the families that they help most are families of low income and single mothers. It has also been shared that the families are also African American. The geographical location for this non-profit organization is served all through Hampton Roads. The locations are in Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Western Tidewater, which these are the main locations. For Kids also have programs that are in Portsmouth and Virginia Beach.

            I have chosen this based on how they focus on families and giving education to the children of the families. I have always wanted to work with kids ever since I was in middle school, so learning about this agency has broaden my perspective in how I can give back and help those kids who need it most. This agency is the main influencer for helping start off my career as a Human Services professional, so I am most looking forward into making an impact for any child that I will come into contact with.
