Reflection

While taking this course, I have learned many different values when it comes to working in the human Services field. I have always enjoyed having the discussion boards as an activity we do every week for class, because of the fact that we are able to interact with our peers when not in the classroom. This also gives me more help in finding more information depending on what the discussion board question is asking. I enjoy how my peers are able to give me feedback to help enhance my growth. While working on these task assignments, I have enjoyed learning what these non-profit organizations do for the youth. I am very big in working with adolescents, because I understand in how hard it can be a kid, and not being able to have the resources that you would like to enjoy, especially education. Understanding the role, the stakeholders have on the program shows that not only are those who are in charge make decisions, but also those who are receiving the help can give suggestions in room for improvement. Wanting to work in the human services field, I have realized that there are many people who need help and need the resources that are given or should be created. Being able to give these resources can really make a difference in an individual’s life. I believe the areas I was most successful in, would have to be my interviews. Noting that Human Services is my major, I have had experience in asking questions to clients, so having that experience made this opportunity easier for me. I believe that this course has helped with my career by giving me an idea of maybe wanting to work in a nonprofit organization and continue to help the kids that need it most. Every day, I am speaking with customers and also my peers. Having the education in being able to speak to others has helped advance my wok by giving me opportunities to improve. I plan on using this skill in my everyday life, by continuing to pursue my career in the Human Services field and also by using this skill when interacting with my family and peers.
