The four ethical issues that arise out when storing electronic information about individuals are privacy and confidentiality, security breaches, system implementation, and data inaccuracies. When a business has information on an individual then they should be able to protect that information by providing privacy and confidentiality to their customers. Security breaches happen when private data gets released to others without consent, through the means of hacking or physical attacks. Security systems should be implemented like firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection software to prevent from those security breaches. Lastly, a business maintains their integrity by making sure data is protected and correct.
Compared to other countries the United States is the largest target for cybercrime in the world, but also the most secure. The United State’s biggest weakness on the field of cybersecurity is that they do not take proper precautions in informing and protecting the public from cyber threats. The “Global Cybersecurity index gave [the United States] a perfect score and few weakness’s could be found” (https://www.broadbandsearch.net/blog/best-worst-countries-cybersecurity), but thats the test on the national level of strength. When it came to testing the protections of the citizens the United States ranged average on every scale according a graph testing percentages of malware attacks by country (posted by https://www.comparitech.com/blog/vpn-privacy/cybersecurity-by-country/). The United states has a strong cybersecurity division in the government and is the home of many strong cybersecurity business’s, so it makes sense that the U.S is strong on a national level, but its weakness’s are not informing the public of possible cyberthreats and weaknesses. Personally I know too many people who have been victims of information leakages, stolen accounts, and social media profiles being taken over by cybercriminals. The reason why America is such a high level target is because of the lack of public knowledge about the subject of cybersecurity.
