Thank you for visiting my ePortfolio. My name is Adel Marcano, and I am a student in the Cybersecurity and Programming program at Old Dominion University. This site brings together the work, projects, and skills I’ve developed throughout my academic experience, especially during the IDS 493 course.
My studies and hands-on labs have given me a solid foundation in cybersecurity concepts, Linux-based operations, network scanning, and vulnerability assessment. I have worked with tools such as Nmap, Metasploit, and various Linux utilities, which helped me understand how networks are structured, how vulnerabilities appear, and how to approach security testing in a safe and ethical way.
In addition to technical knowledge, I have strengthened key professional abilities such as team management, problem-solving, and persistence. These skills guide how I approach challenges, communicate with others, and adapt to complex situations, all essential in both cybersecurity and software development environments.
This portfolio highlights three core areas of my abilities:
- Cybersecurity Skills
- Programming Skills
- Communication & Professional Skills
Each section includes artifacts and reflections that demonstrate what I’ve learned and how I’ve applied it.
You will also find my updated resume and a reflective essay discussing how my coursework and projects shaped my interdisciplinary growth.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work.
Below is my revised Personal Narrative Essay, which reflects my background, academic journey, and motivations in cybersecurity. A downloadable PDF is provided for full review.
