About
My name is Adel Marcano, and I am a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity at Old Dominion University. My academic work focuses on system security, network defense, and applied technical skills that prepare me to analyze vulnerabilities, respond to threats, and secure information systems.
Through my coursework and hands on labs, I have worked with tools and concepts such as network enumeration, penetration testing methodologies, virtualization, Linux environments, and basic scripting for automation and encryption. These experiences have helped me build a strong foundation in how systems operate, how weaknesses are exploited, and how security professionals mitigate or prevent attacks.
Cybersecurity is my primary field, but I also have a long standing passion for programming and game development, which has strengthened my problem solving and analytical thinking. Over several years, I have built systems using C# and the Unity engine, including battle logic, UI systems, and event driven mechanics that require structured thinking and precise debugging. This independent work has helped me become comfortable breaking down large problems, tracing errors, thinking in systems, and building solutions that scale, which directly supports my development in cybersecurity.
Working with artists, musicians, voice actors, and other developers on my projects has also improved my communication and teamwork skills. These experiences translate well into collaborative technical environments.
By combining my academic training in cybersecurity with the analytical and creative abilities I developed through programming, I bring a balanced and flexible approach to problem solving. As I complete my degree, I plan to continue strengthening my technical foundation and pursue work that contributes to digital defense, cyber operations, or secure software development.
