One of the most important parts of having a job is having a healthy work environment. Having one that as well as good chemistry with your co-workers will make the workflow top tier. However, not all companies have the luxury of having that and sometimes certain employees can cause workplace deviance. Cyber technology’s form of workplace deviance provides new avenues for employees to engage in behavior that is unethical and or inappropriate. An example of such could be cyberbullying, now you may assume that cyberbullying is something faced by younger people like kids or teenagers. While that is very true adults can also face cyberbullying as co-workers may spread rumors via something like a work group chat and talk bad about somebody which will cause a disruption in the work environment. Social media being the biggest way for cyberbullying to occur but in a work environment this could also be via emails or instant messaging as well. Sabotage and malicious activities that are done to set up another co worker can be another example of workplace deviance. Using malware, viruses, and other forms of malicious software could be used to disrupt the company’s workflow. While scenarios as such can sound farfetched and like something from a movie, it could also very much happen in real life. People can go to extreme measures in order to see someone else’s downfall especially if they have a motive. If someone for example starts to perform better, then their co-worker and are setting up to get a promotion over the co-worker then they could very possibly do something malicious to make the person not succeed. Human beings will always do something stupid and sometimes inhumane just to get what they want. That’s just human nature you can’t really change it that’s how we were created.
