Cybersecurity is a job that has been consistently growing jobs in the past few years. Many different companies have had high demands for people in the field of cybersecurity. I always knew that I wanted to do something that involved electronics and the internet because my parents always told me that jobs that deal with those often pay very well, and you could make a good and comfortable living off it. Not only that but I have always been the one in my family to deal with my parents and grandparent’s issues if they had one with an electronic in the house. As an only child of parents from foreign countries I can vouch for many that many of them don’t know much about technology and it’s really up to you to be the one to fix their problems. My mom works for a government contracting company that have many different people working in their cybersecurity department. When I get my degree and even before I would like to intern at her company and from there secure a job and build up my resume. In high school I took 2 years of a cybersecurity class that I enjoyed and helped me become more interested in this profession.
There are many different majors that can relate to cybersecurity, an obvious one being computer science as when you are learning cyber you learn certain aspects of comp-sci like programming and so on. There are majors like business where if you start your own company, you will need people in the cyber field to make sure that your company is safe and secure. Other majors can include criminal justice which has its own kind of cyber pathway in cyber-crime. Industrial Systems and computer engineering are also included in related fields as they obviously all fall under the IT route.
