Slynchuk discusses and goes over some illegal things that we as a society are doing on the Internet that are quite common, “but may lead to unwanted consequences.” He states that we “should make an effort to stay safe online.” Such as keeping personal information private and off the Internet and creating very strong passwords. Out of 11 illegal things, I think the 5 most serious violations are collecting information about people younger than 13, illegal searches on the Internet, using other people’s internet networks, faking your identity online, and bullying and trolling. Collecting information about people younger than 13 because that is from a minor; you do not know what you can be collecting; which is an act of stealing; you can be faced with multiple serious charges. Illegal searches on the Internet can lead you to jail, because it is literally in the name, illegal. Using other people’s networks is stealing as well, especially without permission; like for example, WiFi. Identify theft is a very serious charge as well. Using fake or someone else’s information is a crime. And lastly, bullying and trolling, a very common one, but also very serious because it can sometimes turn into jail time and criminal charges depending on the situation.
