This article by Sridhar and Ng works towards developing an economic model of bug bounties by analyzing data from HackerOne, which is a bug bounty platform. The authors give a literature review of hacking ethically, and a number of bug bounty programs and economic models. They do not only just discuss the good about it; however, also the challenges and limitations that they have. Like for example, they state that is difficult to measure the effectiveness of bug bounties. They concur that the programs can improve cybersecurity when designed and implemented correctly and effectively. Overall, the article provides the current state of bug bounties and the possibility of an effective economic model that analyzes data.
