Biography

Clayton Harrington decided to explore the Physical Therapy profession as an undergraduate student while at Old Dominion University. He has always been interested in a health care profession as he was exposed to nursing at an early age from family members, however that did not spark his interest. He had his first exposure to our profession as he observed his grandmother receive Home Health Physical Therapy, and that interest carried through college leading to an aid position. Fast forwarding through college, he tried exploring many professions after failing to gain admittance into Physical Therapy (PT) School five years ago.  Even though they were each interesting in their own way, no other profession ignited the same excitement he felt for physical therapy. Thus, instead of giving up his passion, he decided to pursue PTA school. This turned out to be one of the best decisions of his life.
Now, he is currently a licensed PTA and loves his career.  While being a PTA is rewarding, he feels limited at times.  Clayton wants to be able to make clinical decisions autonomously; to modify a plan of care without the need to first speak to the evaluating PT.  PTA school has prepared him more than he could have ever imagined, but now he is ready to learn more.  Physical Therapy school is a great opportunity to progress his career clinically and academically, giving him the opportunity to better assist and educate his patients, students, and fellow colleagues.  Becoming a Physical Therapist has been a lifelong dream of his; a passion that continues to grow.  Clayton is excited to learn from different clinicians with different interests and expertise to become a more well-rounded therapist and a stronger advocate, helping to transform society and improve the human experience for all.
