Hello, my name is Alan Schneider, I’m currently working towards completing a BS in Cybersecurity at Old Dominion University after transferring from Tidewater Community College with my AAS in Cyber. My technical and management expertise were developed over twenty-one years in the military. Specifically, the IT and Cybersecurity fields. Encompassing radio frequency communications, spectrum management, network administration, cybersecurity risk management, auditing and compliance.
Over the course of my military career, the practice of Cybersecurity has become a critical component in today’s digital world. Not only to the individual seeking to retain informational privacy, but to the corporations effecting the global economy and government entities responsible for maintaining national security. In this day and age threat actors come in all shapes and sizes. From the individual threat of identity theft to cybercriminal organizations executing corporate ransomware extortion attacks or nation states and their proxies conducting cyberwarfare against critical infrastructure. Against this backdrop, the field of Cybersecurity makes tangible contributions in maintaining not only global economic stability, but global security as well and is one of the reason’s I have chosen to study this field.
This e-portfolio showcases artifacts comprising technical, writing and critical thinking skills gained over the course of my college career. Each skill page will have three artifacts listed and my reflection paper frame my personal growth and a resume to demonstrate skill progression.
