At first, cell biology felt simple and familiar. Glucose makes ATP easy. But as the semester went on, I realized I was only familiar with the surface. There is so much I haven’t learned. Details are way more complex and honestly a little overwhelming at times.
Lipids form the semipermeable, flexible membrane that protects cells. These membranes are also in control of what is allowed in and out of cells, so they are vital to proper cellular function.
Hi, my name is Aniyah Edmond! My e-portfolio serves as a continually growing collection of my scientific interests, academic work, and developing skills as a student pursuing a career in anesthesiology. This space allows me to broadcast my ideas and learning experiences through the various projects and research assignments.
I am a second-year biomedical, pre-health student with an interest in anesthesiology, and I chose to draw a fibroblast cell. Fibroblast cells aid in the formation and repair of connective tissues within the body. These cells produce collagen, which helps maintain the structure of various tissues, and they also play a crucial role in wound healing (Sidransky, 2022). This is especially important in biomedical science because fibroblasts help close injuries and repair damage following trauma or surgery. Scientists and healthcare professionals understand the human body’s response to injury and the healing process in part because of fibroblast cells.
