Description:

Story Description:

In “Unlucky Spies”, the player plays a character named Larry, a top-notch American spy, whose mission is to come to New York and find a Russian spy, Anastasia A.K.A Joanne, to extract valuable information from before the government meeting that is held later that week. Even though this mission would be normally easy for him, his luck became a part of the factor of completing this mission. With this luck, his mission is now harder than ever because he now doesn’t know what description of Anastasia is right or wrong. Now, the player has to help Larry complete this mission with the obstacle of luck and the city itself.

Mechanics and obstacles Description:

The core experience of “Unlucky Spies” is to have fun, think critically, and “mentally” grow while playing this game. Even though there is no level up system in the game, the player levels up “mentally” with the understanding of the mechanics within the game. To add more detail to this statement, the way the player levels up mentally is by giving time and thinking critically to the game. The more they play, the more they understand the mechanics in the game. This mental level up changes, or give more details to, the mission and gives the player an opportunity to complete the objective.

With the mechanics of skill and chance, this unique obstacle of chance can be either difficult or not; it really depends if the player wants to take their time into the game. With the obstacle of looking for the spy can change a lot in the game as well. This obstacle also plays with the mechanic of chance due to the factor of the descriptions of Anastasia, the Russian spy. It can also become a challenge with the player’s skills with finding the spy within the city. The city of New York is big and finding the spy is not going to be easy. With this, the spy is not gonna stand out very easily, so the player will have to seek out and hopefully find the correct person. Overall, the game’s obstacles creates this mechanic of skill and chance that also creates this form of difficulty and fun, and with the game’s mechanics and obstacles, it connects to the story and forms this creative and deeper meaning within it.

Competition Statement:

Games that are puzzle based and/or uses a lot of critical thinking will be compared to “Unlucky Spies” but I can assure you that this game is unique in a lot of ways. Compared to most puzzle games, the mechanic of chance in “Unlucky Spies” creates this replayability and availability to take different routes within the game. The mechanic also makes this differentiation of difficulty in the game. To add more detail, most puzzle games have a static difficulty within their puzzle, but with “Unlucky Spies”, the game can be either easy or hard depending on the chance mechanic. Lastly, the environment intractability with the puzzle in “Unlucky Spies” is something completely unique in puzzle games. To say the least, there is a lot of puzzle games, but if the consumer wants something unique and ever-changing in a puzzle, “Unlucky Spies” is the best way to go.
